Sponge levitation or the story of one gift from Creamy.
I came with a master class on making such a trifle kitchen trifle as a dishwashing sponge. Or rather, the modernization of the sponge for ease of use and storage. I thought of making a gift for my godfather. The donee still does not know anything about the upcoming gift, but I devote you to all stages of making such a simple everyday thing as a kitchen sponge. The manufacturing process itself is quite simple and very short in terms of the time spent, it took me much more time to photograph all the stages. There will be a lot of photos so that everyone can see it clearly and understandably.
Oh, how many different ways I have tried to store kitchen sponges.
Another option for suspension on a crane
And how many more purchased options were on various suction cups, the sea of their homemade products. But it’s not that, I categorically didn’t like the fact that all the suction cups fell off over time, all these various containers hinged on suction cups had to be constantly washed from splashes, water flowed from the sponge into the decorative "trays". I had to pour out this swamp, the sponges were constantly wet, did not dry out properly, the thought constantly occurred to me that this wet sponge was a greenhouse for the reproduction of all kinds of bacteria. And it's just that all these sponge containers on the table took up space on the tabletop. Manufacturers of kitchen faucets are trying to make housewives as comfortable as possible to use their equipment, for example, now there are models where the water supply from the filter is connected to one gander spout. But there is no suspension system for kitchen sponges on the mixer. In the early 2000s, I had a double-lever kitchen mixer, which had a ring on the body for hanging a chain with a cork. I have never met such models again.
Well, if there are no such models, then we ourselves will adapt the existing models according to our needs. Here I will show you how I made a suspension system for kitchen sponges on the mixer. It is done very simply and for a very short time.
Here's what I will do. Here my favorite sponge hangs over the sink, it doesn't touch the bottom. Water drains from the sponge and therefore the sponge dries very quickly and is always at hand.
The manufacturing process itself begins with the search for such trifles as rings from sets of keys and all kinds of pendants on mini-carabiners from small soft toys. Here's what I found in the bins:
Then I took pants hooks, which I love so much (they are placed on the belt of trousers or skirts). I have two types of hooks. On the left is a two-piece set and on the right a different type of four. Such sets of trouser hooks
are always sold in all sewing accessories departments along with spools of thread, buttons and zippers. They are ideal for our task, since they are stainless. The following photos will prove the versatility of these hooks.
Here is a very close-up view of the trouser hook (in the products it is sewn for the holes), which I will use for the suspension system.
Here a trouser hook of a different type (from in the products it is attached by bending 4 teeth in a perforated counter plate), it can also come in handy if we have a different type of lever handle for a kitchen mixer. We attach this hook to the sink spout if we have a solid one-piece mixer handle.
Carefully compare two "crab" hooks with 4 teeth-legs. On one of the hooks, I used a pair of pliers to bend the teeth to hang the hook over the perforations in my sink spout.
Here I attached a crab hook with curved teeth to the sink drain. And already on the hook hung a sponge.
But now I am going to make a sponge suspension system for a mixer with a hole in the handle.
I have such a mixer with a handle, in which there is a hole, this hole I will use for hanging the sponge attachment system.
We need a trouser hook, a key ring and a piece of fishing line.
We put the hook in the ring instead of the key.
Here is my old sponge (it's already its second year!) On the hitch system.
The sponge is suspended and soars in the air - levitation in one word.
But we are free, if we wish, to make the suspension system even more convenient, here I hooked such a universal twist between the key ring and the trouser hook, took it from the attachment of a soft toy - long live thrift and hamster!
For greater clarity, the system hung it on a railing hook.
I bought this set of my favorite kitchen sponges. They are a hit at a china shop in the local market. Please note that they clean well and do not scratch Teflon and glass. This is the front side of a package of two sponges. I have met such sponges of gold and silver colors.
This is the wrong side of the package.
From a completely new sponge, remove the foam rubber inside with scissors. I am deleting it because my cockroaches together in one voice assure that bacteria live and multiply in this foam rubber. Therefore, my sponges are gutted, so I believe that I do not breed bacteria and sponges do not retain water and dry quickly.
Opening the sponge and cutting off the foam rubber soldered into the seam, turn the sponge inside out and cut the foam rubber from the second side.
They gutted the foam sponge. Those who are not afraid of the multiplication of bacteria can leave the foam rubber.
Again we will use a pendant from a soft toy for the loop.
You can use a toothpick or even more convenient needle threader to help thread the thin lace.
From the inside of the sponge, we will bring out the steel loop of the needle threader and insert the thinnest thin lace from the hinge into it. We drag and fasten on the wrong side.
We got a convenient loop for hanging.
For convenience, we make a loop of fishing line in the second corner of the sponge. I fix the two ends of the line with kanzangs and melt and solder the two ends together with matches.
This is how the sponge became mega-comfortable.
Trial suspension of a new sponge. The beauty!
I also prepared such a sponge as a gift, although I must admit that I myself do not particularly favor them.
Slightly cut the foam rubber from the base to the corner like this. (do not cut off!)
We bend the slightly trimmed corner of the foam rubber, pierce it, thread it, make a loop, fasten the loop with knots.
Trial hanging of a new sponge.
So that the gutted and trimmed sponge does not dissolve at the cut point with scissors, we trim and at the same time solder the edge using glass, any soldering iron (I have it from Fixprice for 55 rubles, I cut all synthetics with it), pressing the edge with any strictly metal ruler.
All! Cut and solder the slice.
Oh, here is the final photo of the gift for the kuma. Just some trifle, two lips!
Chef, I have to ask you again, let this post of mine with this little master class on such an insignificant kitchen trivia as sponges live in the topic "Kitchen trivia" for at least a week, and then, if you wish, you can place it somewhere separately. Thank you.
